In 1931, Frank Gordon and the Vila Nova de Gaia native Cláudio and Mário Martins took the initiative to found a Portuguese golf club, until that time practiced almost exclusively by the numerous British colony installed in Porto. Together with other enthusiasts and benefiting from the sympathy of the official entities of the municipality, it was possible in 1932 to create the Club de Golf de Miramar.
